O colóquio internacional AMAZÔNICAS - A Estrutura das Línguas Amazônicas: Fonologia e Sintaxe foi concebido em 2007 como um evento bienal itinerante, organizado alternadamente em diferentes países amazônicos, com o objetivo de funcionar como plataforma para intercâmbio e cooperação na área de estudos de línguas indígenas amazônicas.. Edições anteriores do evento ocorreram em Manaus (2007), Recife (2008), Bogotá (2010), Lima (2012), Belém (2014), Letícia-Colômbia e Tabatinga-Brasil (2016), Baños-Equador (2018). Em 2020, a Universidade Federal de Goiás e a Universidade de Brasília sediarão a oitava edição do AMAZÔNICAS. Desta vez, o evento acontecerá no Cerrado, área de grande diversidade de línguas amazônicas.
O colóquio AMAZÔNICAS VIII será realizado no Núcleo Takinahaky de Formação Superior Indígena da Universidade Federal de Goiás, entre 29 de junho e 03 de julho de 2020. A Escola de Inverno ocorrerá logo em seguida, dos dias 06 a 10 de julho de 2020, na Universidade de Brasília.
O colóquio consistirá de uma Sessão Geral e quatro Simpósios Temáticos, em Fonologia, Morfossintaxe, Língua e Sociedade, e o simpósio sobre uma família ou tronco linguístico da região onde ocorre o evento.
Sessão Geral abre espaço para trabalhos sobre diversos aspectos das línguas amazônicas, tais como tópicos em fonética, fonologia, morfologia, sintaxe, semântica, pragmática, estrutura da informação, linguística histórica, psicolinguística, tipologia ou outro assunto fora os tópicos dos simpósios temáticos.
Nesta edição, os tópicos de discussão em cada Simpósio Temático são os seguintes:
1)      Simpósio de Fonologia: “Interface entre a fonologia e a morfologia”
2)      Simpósio de Morfossintaxe: “Classificação nominal na gramática e no discurso"
3)   Simpósio de Língua e Sociedade: "Arte Verbal em línguas indígenas: tradição e inovação (usos em novos contextos)"
4)      Simpósio sobre grupo linguístico local: “O tronco Macro-Jê”

The international colloquium AMAZONICAS – The Structure of Amazonian Languages: Phonology and Syntax was conceived in 2007 as a biennial event, to be held alternately in different Amazonian countries, with the main goal of serving as a platform for the exchange of ideas and collaboration in the research on Amazonian languages. Previous editions of AMAZONICAS have taken place in Manaus (2007), Recife (2008), Bogotá (2010), Lima (2012), Belém (2014), Letícia-Colômbia/Tabatinga-Brasil (2016), and Baños-Ecuador (2018).. In 2020, the University of Goiás and the University of Brasilia will be hosting the eight edition of AMAZONICAS and its Winter Institute.. This time, the event will be held at the Brazilian Cerrado, home to a great diversity of Amazonian languages.
AMAZONICAS VIII, the colloquium, will take place at the Nucleo Takinahaky of the University of Goiás, between June 29 and July 3, followed by the Winter Institute, which will be held at the University of Brasília from July 6 to 10, 2020.
The colloquium consists of one General Session and four Thematic Symposia, on Phonology, Morphosyntax, Language and Society, and a language family local to the place where the event is held.
The General Session provides a forum for papers on diverse aspects of Amazonian languages, such as topics concerning phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, information structure, historical linguistics, psycholinguistics, typology, or other topics outside of the thematic symposia.
This edition, the topics of discussion for each of the Thematic Symposia are as follows:
1)      Symposium on Phonology: “The phonology/morphology interface”
2)      Symposium on Morphosyntax: “Nominal classification in grammar and discourse"
3)   Symposium on Language and Society: "Verbal art in indigenous languages: tradition and innovation (new contexts of use)”
4)      Symposium on a local language family: “The Macro-Jê stock”
